I know the title is redundant, heck it felt redundant even writing it! If you live in the D(c)M(aryland)V(irginia) area you know exactly why. But for those who don’t it’s basically because Korean food, sweets, makeup, bars etc are all over the place. Especially in Virginia and I happen to live right in Annandale which is the K-Town of the area.
I wanted to start off with that to show how much I really value this gem of a coffee shop in my neighborhood. With all the cafe/bakeries sprawled around the city I still keep coming back to Soricha without hesitation.
Soricha is a teahouse and theatre, all the teas are top quality Korean teas. Soricha is also associated with the Washington Sorichung Music Institute so they host performances quite often. I haven’t been to one yet but I really really want to!
Aside from teas, they also serve coffee and desserts. The presentation here, even for a simple americano is beautiful! I’m definitely an americano kind of girl but it isn’t an insta-worthy type of drink or at least that’s what I always thought until I ordered one here.
I’m not a huge fan of patbingsu (but my husband really loves it) and Soricha has really unique varieties and seasonal flavors that other places don’t have.
I’m pretty basic and end up getting a mini waffle on most visits but this time I decided to add some matcha icecream on top just because!
The aesthetic inside Soricha reminds me of the cafes in Korea. I’m not talking about cafes like ATwosomePlace (which I love) or Tours le Jours, but the kind of cafes you find in random alleys walking around Seoul. It has a very modern yet woody and traditional vibe.
The light is perfect for picture taking as well, so if you want a cute selfie look no further!
There’s quite a few things on the menu I have yet to try but be sure that when I do I’ll keep you guys updated! I really want to try the Iced Cube Latte and the Iced Omija soon.
What coffee/tea are you drinking a lot of lately?
