So my posts are basically a day later, so this is what I did as of yesterday!
Jean’s family got us tickets back to Seoul on the bullet train which is really great because it cuts the travel time by more than half!
Beforehand Jean’s mom took us to get some kimbap for the train ride and we also stopped by this small museum in Gimhae to pass the time since it was still early. It’s free and seems to be run either by the government or locals.
The weather was really nice and bright! But so so so windy! I think I’m acclimating well to the weather though. I actually prefer this than to the tropical climate in Florida. I really don’t like the heat!
Inside there were two floors that housed pieces from different eras in Korea’s history. A good show of what life was like back then for the Korean people.
After we were finished, Jean’s mom dropped us off at the train station and we were ready to head back to Seoul for another week!
On the train, I spent most of my time eating, blogging and playing on my phone. The wifi was really wonky though.
As soon as we arrived a Seoul station we got on the subway and headed a few stops away to Myeong Dong! Myeong Dong is a huge mecca for shopping and tourists. I hadn’t seen so many non-koreans until then. Granted many things were overpriced and overall I didn’t like Myeong Dong all that much. I much prefer Hongdae! But it was a location I just HAD to experience for myself.
Clue is a popular Korean brand for watches and jewelry, it really reminds me of Pandora but way cuter. I ended up picking up a pretty watch since i’ve been on the market for one for awhile! My wrist is small so it’s been hard to find an appropriate one that fit until now.
I went to several different stores and made a few purchases, but I’ll be honest it was really annoying. The Korean shopping culture is very different than in the US. If you go to a store in the US an attendant might ask if you need any help and when you say no they will leave you alone. In Korea it’s the opposite they literally follow you around eagerly wanting to help, which for anxiety-ridden people like me can be stressful. In Myeong Dong it was x100%. I even had some attendants reading out products I wasn’t even looking at as if I couldn’t read that the bottle said Serum LOL
I stopped by the Style Nanda Pink Hotel store but it was insanely crowded. I was able to take a few pictures but this isn’t a brand I’ve dabbled in so I didn’t buy anything. Maybe in the future.
Myeong Dong is full of street food on every corner and stretch of the area!
SEE YOU NEXT TIME! ^^
