Petite-Friendly Long Cardigan

For the most part I love being petite! For example gym clothes are like heaven and easy to shop for which is basically all I wear. But when I go out and try to wear “something nice” it can become tricky and just plain emotionally taxing. I might have done that to myself though by not researching and out right not caring enough to step into the world of petite sections.

These are articles of clothing I figured weren’t going to happen for me;

Slacks, long cardigans, long anything, ankle jeans, blazers etc.

Lo and behold, Jean and I made a day trip to Orlando recently and ended up at the Outlets. I ran into a store called ROZ & ALI which seems to be a re-vamped Dress Barn. They had literally just opened that day and were having a 25% discount of the entire store, which was amazing! Most stores that carry petite are usually on the expensive end so any little discount helps.

As much I love clothes it’s pretty rare for me to see an item of clothing and feel a pull. When that happens I know it’s meant to be. That’s exactly what I felt with this cardigan! I haven’t owned a black cardigan since high school and I wore it almost every day back then. I think a plain black cardigan is a much needed staple in everyone’s wardrobe, it will never go out of style and black looks great with everything.

What initially drew me to it was the detailing on the back, it’s really beautiful and different. Your not-so-basic cardigan. I also like that it gives a preview of the blouse you’re wearing underneath from the back.

I didn’t notice it was a “long” style cardigan until I tried it on in-store. It was mind-baffling! This fits me? It isn’t consuming me? It’s not dragging on the ground!? SOLD.

It’s chunky and warm enough for the Florida Fall/Winter temperatures, it usually doesn’t go below 40F in the North. For colder weather this would be a great layering piece. The sleeves aren’t gaping open at the ends either, they kind of taper a bit.

I would also like to honorably mention these petite ankle-length slacks from Ann Taylor! They are really warm and comfy and were 50% off at the outlets.

  1. Hi Anabel, I just wanted to say hi here in the comments as I tried to get in touch with you before for a collab but never heard anything back from you. If you’re open to collabs I’d love to hear from you. You’re more than welcome to write directly to me on laura@blogerize.com – even if you’re not interested. All the best xx
